REGARDING Cllr Harkin's idea of name change from Bolton to Bolton-le-Moors.
It is only a year since we were hoping for city status.
We didn't win, so a new quaint idea had to be put forward.
This was to put a time-warp on the town and return us 200 years. At least 200 years ago fluoride contaminated water was not on the agenda!
The name was changed to just Bolton because it was the largest "Bolton", and did not require any other appendage.
If the name is changed, anyone living south of Watford will think that our Bolton is just a hamlet of thatched cottages with no facilities or sanitation -- perhaps with an inn with a stable for the horses needed for the once-a-week stagecoach.
Cllr Harkin would be better employed devoting his time and energy to rejuvenating the town centre, the closed shops, Ashburner Street Market and its parking, the many potholes in our roads, the ever increasing above-inflation council tax and giving value for money.
In conclusion, I would never put my postal address as Bolton-le Moors -- otherwise I would be waiting for the Pony Express to deliver my mail!
