MY recent article about A.V. Roe, the air pioneer who spent much of his youth in this area, including being an apprentice at the Horwich Loco Works, and how he was a keen cyclist, has brought a letter from Mr Keith Moorhouse, of Plymouth.
He writes: "My late grandfather Philip Moorhouse (a brother of Flintoff Moore, the opera singer) often used to tell me about the times when he was a racing cyclist, and one of his main adversareis was the said A.V. Roe.
"Many was the occasion when he told me about the races, especially those which took place on the perimeter of Burnden Park football ground all those years ago!"
Mr Moorhouse also says that although he has lived in Plymouth for many years, the still enjoys these Looking Back articles.
