"DO you remember this shop?" said a headline in Looking Back on December 4, over a couple of pictures taken at the turn of the last century of John Holt's shop at the corner of Higher Bridge Street and Back Haydock Street, Bolton.
Well, it certainly brought back memories to Mrs Susan Bousfield, of Wilby Avenue, Little Lever, who tells me that she lived there for about 11 years.
"My Dad, William Holden (Bill) bought the shop from the Holt family in 1947, the year I was born, and I think it was then that it became a newsagents. We lived there very happily, my Dad, Mum (Ida), sister (Jean) and myself until it was pulled down, reduced to rubble, in 1958.
"Sadly, Mum and Dad are now both dead, but my sister and myself have lots of fond memories of 63 Higher Bridge Street."
