You may recall that a few weeks ago I printed a picture of St Simon and Jude's School on Rishton Lane. I have now received this one, taken in about 1950, from Mrs Alwyn Southworth (nee Laycock), who can be seen fourth from the right on the second row up. Mrs Southworth cannot recall the names of everyone on the picture, but those she can remember are: Peter Wainwright, James Peat, Bill Baron Dorothy Bullough, Valerie Wise, Christine Hardman, Eileen Yates, Vivien Kindred, Dorothy Broughton, Eva Bain, Dorothy Ramsden, David Lowe, Alan Gradwell, and Nathan Crook.
"Where are you all now?" she asks.
Well, if you wish to answer that, you can contact Mrs Southworth at 170 Breightmet Drive, Bolton, BL2 6NP (Tel. Bolton 384376). Indicentally, when I printed the previous picture from this school on October 28, it was stated that the school closed in 1952. A reader wrote to say that could not be true, because he went there after that date. I have now been told that in fact the senior school closed then, with all the older pupils going to Hayward, but the primary school continued for some years.
