Adlington is set to host one of the largest collections of model war planes ever assembled.

Bolton IPMS Model Club is holding its fourth annual model show on Sunday, January 11, and is inviting local modellers to bring their F4 Phantoms to Adlington Community Centre, Railway Road, from 10am. The McDonnell-Douglas F4 Phantom was one of the most successful war planes of the 20th century and was used by more than 20 air arms throughout the world.

Club secretary, David Swift, said: "The Phantom has always been a popular subject with modellers and we decided to adopt it as the theme for this year's show."

Model kits will also be on sale at the event, which runs from 10am until 4.30pm. Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children.

"We have modellers coming from across the country and are expecting at least 25 models in a variety of scales and sizes so far, which would make one of the largest collections of Phantom models ever assembled in this country."

In addition to the Phantom display the show will feature aircraft, tanks, armour, ships and figure models.

Model kits will also be on sale at the event, which runs from 10am until 4.30pm. Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children.
