EARLIER this month I printed a picture of Whitecroft Road School in 1964/65 sent to me by Barbara Bithell (nee Onley) who now lives in Australia.
She has now sent me another photograph, from 1954, when she and 11 of her cousins went to the Evening News' office in Mealhouse Lane because they had all joined the Journal Mercury Club.
She names them as, back row from left: Sheila Priestly, Shirley Cain, Joan Rigby, Jack Hennifer, Nelly Onley, Tony Crompton, Kathleen Crompton, Rose Crompton and Joyce Onley (holding Eileen). Front row: Robin Cain, Malcolm Rigby, Jennifer Hennifer, Philip Priestly, Stephen Crompton, Barbara Onley and David Crompton. Quite a family!
