MIKE Whitlow pledged to help Wanderers emulate the gravity-defying feat that put Leicester on the Premiership map.

The 29-year-old left-back has moved to the Reebok from Filbert Street for £700,000, and knows all about survival having helped the Foxes stay in the top flight last season.

He also helped them achieve glory as they won the Coca Cola Cup against Middlesbrough and qualified for the UEFA Cup.

Colin Todd would surely settle for a repeat of that.

"It's about digging deep and all working hard together," the new Reebok recruit declared.

"That's what I'm hoping will happen here. The Premiership is a tough league. There are no easy games and it's getting harder."

TONY Philliskirk brought a smile of relief to the face of Bruce Rioch, as he salvaged a point for Wanderers in this home game with Bournemouth.

Philliskirk, who has spent much of the season on the bench and seems destined to leave Bolton, popped up in the 88th minute to make it 1-1 in the kind of game that Bolton should be winning.

Wanderers had made plenty of chances but the make-shift forward line of Scott Green and David Reeves could not convert.

The main threat came from corners and fortunately Philliskirk made one count as he headed home with just two minutes left.

Goalkeeper Keith Branagan made an unusual mistake for Bournemouth's goal as he lost the ball to Lee Shearer, leaving an easy finish for Mark Morris in the fourth minute.

WANDERERS' 'on loan' striker Frank Worthington scored a debut goal in the 1-1 draw with Stoke at Burnden.

He put the Wanderers back in the game in the 22nd minute after Howard Kendall had put the visitors a goal to the good just two minutes earlier.

Both goalkeepers made excellent saves as the sides battled for the decisive goal in a match that was marred by ugly crowd hooliganism.

Worthington, who has arrived from Leicester, after Neil Whatmore had done the hard work following a mazy dribble.

The flamboyant forward was left with the simplest of tap-ins to open his Wanderers account.

Kendall's goal was a belter as he beat Jim McDonagh from long-range.
