In November 1980, Tommy Gilbert, Burnley's Marathon Man - who held several world records for feats of strength -- is pictured demonstrating some of the £3,000 worth of equipment which had been installed at Bolton Lads' Club.
Also in the picture are young club members who used the equipment as part of boxing and football training. The equipment had been bought with the aid of a grant from the Sports Council, and cash raised from the club's boxing tournament
