COUNCILLOR Guy Harkin wishes to change the name of Bolton to get rid of the cloth cap image. But he did not mention the shawl image?
These people who, by hard work and invention, contributed a great deal to the development of Bolton and the country over six generations, sending out new technology all over the world. These people wore their cloth cap and shawls with the pride of hard-working people.
Will the districts and street names be next on the list? There is the old adage of "if it's not broke don't fix it". Why try and bring about costly changes such as this at a time when council community charges are going through the roof when people, especially those on fixed incomes like pensioners, find it hard to cope it is madness.
People born in Bolton all have Bolton on their birth certificates not Bolton-le-Moors.
Is this the Council's silly season? If so it's time we had a new image on the council by removing some of them at the coming election.
