WANDERERS are to produce the world's first digital matchday programme.

The programme for Wednesday's Reebok clash with Manchester United will be the first to be available online.

Wanderers are digitising and offering for sale a web enhanced copy of the 68-page matchday programme.

It is being produced in association with Digital Programmes Limited and will be available to download from 6pm the day before the match.

The digital programme will cost the cover price of £2.50 and will take just minutes to download.

Supporters can access the product via the Digital Programmes website www.digitalprogrammes.com or through the Bolton Wanderers Football Club website, hosted by internet partner FLPTV, www.bwfc.co.uk.

Sam Allardyce said: "The matchday programme is sacrosanct in British football and is part of the heritage of the game in this country.

"Just think, supporters around the world, whether you're in Australia, USA or even here in Bolton, will now be able to read my comments and preview the game from the comfort of their office at home or at work.

"It amazes me how technology has moved on in recent years, but yet again I'm proud that Bolton Wanderers are at the forefront of innovation in sport."

Wanderers commercial director Gareth Moores said: "We recognise the importance of digital content and particularly the potential of this technology to distribute our increasing range of publications to supporters throughout the world.

"For the first time ever, fans around the world will be able to read and access the matchday programme on the day before each home game.

"Utilising this product to its full potential, we can now communicate more closely with our fans and offer them a service we could only dream about a few years ago."
