A DECISION will be made this month on the new name of the Deane School.
Parents and the local community will be consulted on what they think the name of the Junction Road school should be when it is re-launched in September.
The new executive principal, John Baumber, will be meeting a focus group of parents to talk to them about the name of the new school. Further consultation will then take place with all parents, staff and the wider community.
The decision was taken to "close" the Deane School -- on paper only -- after it failed to come out of special measures. It will be re-launched one day later as a new school that will work in partnership with the successful Rivington and Blackrod High School.
Bolton education chiefs hope the re-launch will mean a new vision, focus and future, and they are determined that from the outset pupils and parents will be encouraged to have a say in the school's future.
Margaret Blenkinsop, director of education and culture, said: "We want to offer our young people the very best opportunities and life chances, which the partnership between the two schools will provide. It will be a springboard to success and a platform for pupils to shine and achieve. "
