THESE serious-looking gentlemen were pictured in 1950 making sure that there was no unscheduled drama in the Grand Theatre, Bolton.
Representatives from Bolton Borough Fire Brigade and Bolton Borough Police timed the dropping of the safety curtain.
The drop was made in 14 seconds -- well inside the allotted time of 30 seconds.
The caption to the picture right read: "Fire extinguishers being examined in the flys."
