LIBRARY users can now renew their borrowed books 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the touch of a button.
Bolton libraries have introduced a new system where borrowers use the keys on their touchtone telephones.
By dialling 01204 332384 and then selecting from a simple menu option, library users can renew their books and hear other library information including opening times.
All borrowers need to do is have their membership number to hand, ready to enter using the phone keys.
An operator will be on hand to help with any problems during normal opening hours.
Councillor Laurie Williamson, Bolton Council's Executive Member for Culture, said: "We are always looking at improving access to our library service. The new phone system means people are not restricted to usual opening times to renew their books.
"It's just one of a number of developments that are taking place in our libraries and I'm particularly pleased it has been introduced this year when we are celebrating the 150th anniversary of Bolton libraries."
