IN between coaching tennis, playing the odd round of golf and jetting between Florida and Devon, Gordon Lomax has found time to write his second book.
His first, Musings Of A Black Pudding Man was a best seller at Sweetens Bookshop on Deansgate, Bolton.
So much so that Gordon has just finished his second book called, what else, Further Musings Of A Black Pudding Man, a miscellany of articles previously published in syndicated columns throughout Britain and America.
Born in Radcliffe and raised in Bury, Gordon was and still is "a complete sports fanatic".
He went on to play professional tennis and made a successful career as a tennis coach in Spain and America.
The sprightly 69-year-old said: "I have always enjoyed writing -- not huge novels but short, light-hearted articles.
"After moving to America in 1989 I began writing the odd article for the local paper in Orlando and was soon writing a regular column.
"Before long the column was syndicated and appeared in papers all over the country.
"Friends started to tell me I should put them all in a book and one day I just thought 'why not?'."
That was over a year ago and after Sweetens Bookshop took just four copies to sell to Bolton people, Gordon soon received a call asking for more copies.
"The book was selling really well," he beams, "and, because I had a lot more observations and experiences in my head, I decided to write another."
Aside from his tennis career, Gordon used to be a broadcaster on the former Radio Manchester (now GMR) and wrote questions for Question Of Sport when David Coleman presented the show.
Now Gordon, and his Danish wife Jytte, spend the majority of the year at their home in Fort Myers, Florida. When they do return to this country, they live at the house in Devon.
He says his books are aimed at those who "seek a light, yet thought provoking bedtime read".
He says: "They're quick to pick up yet difficult to put down sort of books.
"And the title? Well what else could you call a man from Bury?"
Musings Of A Black Pudding Man and Further Musings Of A Black Pudding Man, both by Gordon Lomax, are available from Sweetens Bookshop, Deansgate, priced £9.95.
