SIXTIES soul legends the Drifters have announced they are to play the Albert Halls in Bolton as part of their tour of the UK.

The superstar group -- which once featured the likes of Ben E. King, Clyde McPhatter and Johnny Moor -- enjoyed 29 top 40 singles between the 1950s and 1970s.

They are remembered for such hits as Under the Boardwalk, Up On The Roof and Saturday Night at the Movies.

The group's latest line-up includes Roy Hemmings, Patrick Allan and Rohan Turney who have a collective experience of more than 37 years in the band.

Last year saw the Drifters celebrate 50 years as a music phenomenon with sell out shows and a top 10 album, The Definitive Drifters, which illustrated their great back catalogue.

The show in Bolton will reproduce all the big hits, including Come On Over To My Place and On Broadway.

Tickets for the concert on Friday, January 30, are available from the box office. They are priced £12.50 and £14.50. For more details call 01204 3344003.
