WHEN was the last time you caught a bus used by secondary school children?
If you decide to give it a try, don't expect to find a seat as there won't be any available, and almost none of the schoolchildren will give up their seat for you.
If you're old, heavily pregnant, a young mum with a baby or a middle aged person laden with shopping bags, it makes no difference, you're on your own!
It matters not that you've paid at least twice as much bus fare as they have, or that they are taller and broader than you (which they mostly are), asking them to stand will usually elicit intimidating responses ranging from loud comments, scowls, the evil eye, or yet more foul language.
Your rights and/or needs do not exist.
Maybe it's time parents left their cars at home and used public transport occasionally, in order to see what's going on in the real world.
