MICK Whelan was crowned new aggregate champion after Royal Ashton fished the final match of the Winter League series last Sunday.
Whelan took the honours after picking up only eight points from the six-match series.
He finished ahead of Paul Swift, who has dominated the last four series, but who this time finished joint second with Peter Riley, both on 11 points.
John Crook was fourth on 12 points, and Chris Riley came fifth with 13 points.
However, none of the first three was in the frame to take the final match, as it was Crook who won with a roach bag of 5lbs 10oz taken on the tip with red maggot.
John Priors was second with 5lbs 6oz and Peter Lane made third place with 3lbs 3oz.
