AFEW years ago there was a competition to answer, I think, 150 historical questions regarding Bolton's history including, the first man in the Gold Rush was a Boltonian, the Captain who tried to assist the Titanic was a Boltonian, etc.
I was one of the recipients of a cup for my success in answering all the questions. Now certain people are trying again to change names, boundaries, districts etc, and why? Because they are not capable of dealing with the real problems of Bolton and never have been.
For Cllr Harkin to want to get away from the cloth cap image seems ironic, considering he supposedly represents the original 'cloth cap' party, is elected as a working man's man, and the Daubhill area is a proud reminder of the textile industry that made Bolton what it is today.
No, Cllr, come up with some realistic options for the good of Bolton and stop messing with the heritage that real Boltonians are proud of.

Boltonian-born and proud of it
