MAY I return to Cllr Harkin's two ideas, namely speed humps and Bolton-le-Moors.
Would he please let us know, through your columns, what the cost would be to the local authority to make the name change.I assume he has asked our officers to do a costing exercise.
The man in charge of the London Ambulance Service stated recently that speed humps in the capital cost more than 800 deaths each year, because of the delay in getting to heart attack victims and then getting them to hospital. In a chilling phrase he said: "I know the figure is correct because we receive the bodies". In our town, that would be one death every two weeks.
You quoted a council source saying speed humps are going in all over Bolton and people are very happy. How do they know? Who have they asked? Am I the only resident not to be asked?
