I FEEL I should put a few facts straight about SS Peter & Paul's Church. First of all, our parish priest's name is Reverend Father John McNamara, and not Father Mike McNamara.
Secondly, the Parish is 209 years old, but the church as we know it today is 106 years old. The original church was too small so, in June,1897, a new church was opened at a cost of £12,000.
Thirdly, we have been informed by our Bishop, Terence Brain, that no decision has yet been made regarding what will happen to the church buildings or land if we close.
A petition has been sent to all Catholic churches in the Deanery of Bolton. Anyone wishing to sign it can call in to any of these churches, or why not visit SS Peter & Paul's and have a look around, it is a beautiful church with so much history.
Finally, I would like to thank all who are supporting us in our quest to save our beloved church and parish community.
