I AM sure I read in the Bolton Evening News a couple of weeks ago that the Royal Bolton Hospital Trust was selling some land on the site, and also land at the Hulton Lane site, surplus to requirements.
This seems a retrograde step, seeing that it is impossible now to find a visitors' parking space, and surely the Hulton Lane site would be perfect for re-habitation, thus freeing beds in the main hospital.
The multi-storey car park envisaged might help the parking problem. But if Bolton got the contract to provide a cancer centre, then we would be in a much worse position than now. How many more parking spaces would be needed then?
There is no mention in the report (December 26) of the sale of land being postponed.
I feel strongly that the NHS Trust should defer any sale of land until this matter is decided, and explain to the people of Bolton how they are going to fit a "quart into a pint pot" if they persist in going ahead with the sale.
