YOU may remember the Bolton Little Theatre picture which appeared on this page in December featuring members of Farnworth Little Theatre, including future star Frank Finlay.
It has now been pointed out to me that another of the actors in the photograph, Brian Jackson, also went on to greater achievements.
The former Castle Hill School and Thornleigh College pupil started out as a trainee photographer for the Bolton Co-op.
But his activities on the Little Theatre stage led to a lengthy London-based career which took in films, the theatre (at one stage he danced with Ginger Rogers in a production of Mame at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane) and television voice-overs for a wide range of products.
He appeared in many TV plays and serials, including Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, Compact, The Avengers, Danger Man and Vendetta.
But his exposure reached its peak in the 1980s when he donned a white suit to be the "Man From Del Monte" in a long-running series of commercials. Plantation workers throughout the world were seen to be delighted when the man from Del Monte said "Yes!" after testing the fruit they grew.
Mr Jackson, who still lives in London, was married at one time to the well-known screen and stage actress Eunice Gayson.
I am told that his face currently appears on train timetable booklets.
Mr Jackson is pictured above in 1986 in a publicity shot from a production called "Murder In Mind."
