IN reply to the letter, "School Bus Nightmare", I would just like to redress the balance.

Recently I had cause to board a bus on Withins Lane in the late afternoon. When the bus arrived it was packed with pupils and, having heard adverse comments about children in this area, it was with some trepidation that I climbed aboard.

However, I was pleasantly surprised when a boy standing near the front asked another boy to stand up and let me sit down. This he did immediately, and I thanked him and sat down.

Although the bus was rather noisy (as one would expect from so many children), there was no bad language, and I found them all very well-behaved.

Perhaps we should not be so quick to condemn today's youngsters. It is just a few that get the rest a bad name.
