NOT for the first time this season Brooks looked the stronger team in the opening minutes and gave their opponents problems.
But when the home side made a rare attack Brooks' defence backed off to block Holden's view and Lancaster's centre scored.
Brooks continued to dominate but Lancaster stayed solid.
In the second half, Warburton urged her squad forward with some penetrating runs but the final passes were either blocked or went astray and the build up had to start up again. They were still looking good, before disaster number two.
Lancaster sliced through Brooks' left sided players, dragged their right over to challenge, then passed the ball across to the unmarked central player who touched in.
At this point Brooks woke up, the pass back went to Atkins, she touched to Winnard who played some neat one two's with Patterson into the D where the latter was tackled.
The ball spun back from her stick landing nicely for Ainsworth on the left post and the score line looked healthier.
A draw looked on the cards with Brooks but with ten minutes to go Lancaster attacked as before and Brooks' defence fell into the same trap and number three went in. There was no way back for Brooks.
Fibal score: Lancaster 3
Brookfields 1
