THE popular farm at The Deane School will reopen by Easter after a refurbishment programme, managers promised today.
The farm, the only one of its kind in Bolton, was ordered to close temporarily by health and safety officials in October after fears were raised over the lack facilities for visitors to wash before leaving the site.
But site manager Fred Tyldesley said it was business as usual at the busy farm despite the closure and both staff and animals were looking forward to welcoming back the public for a busy spring period.
Farm-hands are expecting the arrival of around 10 African pygmy goats along with countless chicks and goslings.
They will join more than 100 animals at the farm including cows, pigs, sheep, snakes and lizards.
Mr Tyldesley said: "Life goes on despite the temporary closure.
"Work is under way and we're very much looking forward to seeing children around the place again. We want the site to be as safe as possible so it can be enjoyed by everyone across the town.
"We're expecting quite a few new arrivals this spring so it should be a very exciting time for our visitors."
The farm anticipates being open seven days a week.
