PLANS for another takeaway in Westhoughton town centre have received a frosty reception from the town council.
The food outlet is planned for the the site of a former dry cleaners in Market Street, but councillors fear the town could become swamped with litter and plagued by rats if more takeaways are allowed to move into the centre.
Fears have also been voiced about added traffic and the decline of quality shops in the town.
Westhoughton councillor David Wilkinson said he expected the town council to oppose the plans. He said: "The town council is sure to have serious misgivings about another takeaway in the town centre."
"Not only are there traffic related issues and problems with rubbish but this site backs on to a residential area and there is the issue of the residents who live on King Street."
