SAM Allardyce has made a move to sign Bordeaux centre-back Kodjo Afanou.

The 26-year-old Togo-born defender is training with Wanderers with a view to joining the club after cutting short a short-term deal with d'Al Ain Sports et Cultura in the United Arab Emirates.

"We're looking at him to see if we can sort something out for the rest of the season," the Wanderers boss confirmed.

Allardyce, who failed in a bid to persuade Liverpool to let him take defender Djimi Traore on loan, has confirmed an interest in Sunderland's former captain Michael Gray.

He also revealed he has rejected an offer for Mario Jardel from Spanish club Espanyol.
