BOLTON School Girls Division has topped the town's GCSE league tables once again - despite a marking fiasco in one subject.
2003 Second School Performance Tables
The school had to have all their GCSE English Literature papers marked again and regraded after they were wrongly assessed by examiners.
But despite the exam chaos, the tables show that all of the 120 GCSE students gained at least five or more grades between A* and C.
The Girls' Division was named as one of the top 200 schools of all types nationally at GCSE.
In addition, the school had the highest value added score in Bolton - a measurement of individual pupils' progress -and also made the top 20 per cent in the country for value added.
Headteacher Jane Panton said there was gentle rivalry between the girls' and boys' divisions at Bolton School, so it was satisfying for the girls to beat the boys.
The Boys Division came second in Bolton with 98 per cent of 15 year olds gaining five or more grades A* to C.
There are no value added figures for the Boys' Division because its pupils do not do take the Kery Stage 3 tests.
At A-Level, both the boys' and girls' divisions at Bolton School were included in the list of the top 200 schools of all types nationally, ranked by the average points score per candidate.
