LEIGH RMI aim to turn the disappointment of the FA Trophy controversy to their advantage when they take on fellow relegation strugglers Farnborough Town on Saturday.

RMI face the threat of being kicked out of the FA Trophy, if they are found guilty of fielding an ineligible player in the 1-1 draw against Stalybridge, because keeper Seb Rowe may not have had international clearance after playing in the USA in the summer.

Manager Phil Starbuck used the postponement of Tuesday's replay to good effect when he put his side through their paces at training, and introduced new strikers Kris McHale and Carl Alford. McHale, signed from Burscough, will go straight into the team, but Alford, who has played for Gainsborough this season, is recovering from a hamstring strain and may have to settle for a place on the bench.

"Training has gone really well and we have had a bit of fun," said Starbuck. "Their attitude and effort is great, but I need them to transfer that onto the pitch."

There is good news on the injury front as Neil Durkin returns after being sidelined with a groin strain, while Steve Redmond has recovered from flu. Wayne Maden has had an operation his broken nose and will be available in two weeks time, much sooner than was first expected.
