A MEETING between Westhoughton Town Council and the town's traders is being held on Monday to try and solve a security camera cash crisis which could see the system axed.
The long-running saga, which has so far seen traders refuse to come up with half of the funding they initially promised for the scheme, will end this autumn with the council switching off the system if no money has been raised.
Councillors are hoping for a more positive outcome to Monday's meeting which is the latest in a series since the council threatened to axe the £15,000 per year system.
Traders had previously complained that they have been put off paying for the system by rumours that it did not work and that it had failed to catch criminals.
Cllr David Wilkinson said: "We're still trying to persuade people to support the scheme."
The meeting will take place on Monday from 7pm in Carnegie Hall in Westhoughton Town Hall building.
