REGARDING the Deane School situation.
It is not just teachers reapplying for their jobs (Bolton Evening News, January 12) -- secretaries, caretakers, technicians and other non-teaching support staff are also affected.
Despite assurances that the process would not be an onerous one, support staff are asked to reapply, submit particulars showing evidence of skills, and face stressful interviews at an out-of-town location.
Deane School has excellent and committed staff. Barry Conway, Teachers Representative, rightly said: "It is inappropriate for staff to jump through hoops." This is especially true for support staff who are in no way responsible for any educational failings at Deane.
