AN old bible is intriguing reader Cynthia Pearcy of Brownlow Road, Horwich.
She tells me that it was kept by her mother, who died in 1997.
Cynthia, who is compiling a family history, has so far failed to find any connection with some of the names written inside the bible and she wonders if any readers can help.
There are references to various people including Edwin Duckworth (born August 22, 1849), Mary Jane Johnson (January 2, 1855), Edward Duckworth (March 4, 1879), Emma Duckworth (Sept 4, 1881), Herbert Duckworth (October 19, 1883) and Ernest Edwin Duckworth (Sept 11, 1889).
Also, somebody has written "Astley Bridge. S. Paul Church, June 22nd" inside the back cover.
"I have found an Astley Bridge connection in my family, but wonder if there000is anybody out there with an interest in family history who can shed any light on this mystery," Cynthia wonders.
If so, her telephone number is 01204 695737.
