BLOOD tests are due to be carried out on Monday on a man found dead in the front garden of a house.
The results of a post-mortem examination on the body of Paul Joseph Oakley have proved inconclusive and police say more tests are needed.
Detectives have conducted house-to-house inquiries after Mr Oakley was found collapsed in the garden of a house in Knowsley Avenue, Golborne on Saturday morning.
The occupants of the house dialled 999 after they saw him lying in their front garden.
Police and paramedics were called, but the 30-year-old of Helen Street, Golborne was pronounced dead at the scene. A police spokesman said the discovery is currently being treated as suspicious as a matter of routine.
Detectives, who are trying to piece together Mr Oakley's final movements, have appealed to anyone who saw him on Friday night or Saturday morning to contact them.
The spokesman added: "We are working to find out how and when he collapsed and died."
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Leigh CID on 0161 856 7249.
