MEDIATORS from ACAS are holding talks with bosses of Sainsbury's in a bid to resolve a pay dispute with depot workers in Merseyside.

Up to 750 warehouse workers at the distribution centre in Haydock have staged four 24-hour strikes over a pay.

The warehouse supplies stores across the North, including the supermarket in Trinity Street, in Bolton town centre.

Bosses from Sainsbury's and officials from Usdaw, the union representing the workers, agreed on Friday to involve ACAS in the negotiations.

Usdaw general secretary John Hannett said: "We have always maintained that the key to solving this pay dispute lies in keeping open dialogue with Sainsbury's.

"Usdaw officials and shop stewards have worked hard to reach an amicable settlement. The warehouse workers are only seeking a fair rate of pay.

"The involvement of ACAS offers a new opportunity to reach a solution.
