Haydock Park's own horse Streamstown - whose finest hour to date was winning
the Singer & Friedlander National Trial at Uttoxeter almost exactly two
years ago - has been sent hunting to sharpen him up.
The 10-year-old finished a creditable ninth in the Grand National in the
same season.
Following a setback last year, he reappeared in Haydock Park's Tommy Whittle
Chase last month.
Now trainer Ferdy Murphy feels that Streamstown - owned by the Haydock Park
National Hunt Partnership - will benefit from a spell in the hunting field,
and he's now gone to Aintree Racecourse chief executive Charles Barnett.
Meanwhile, the feature race at Haydock Park on Saturday - the
Willows Handicap Hurdle - includes an interesting entry in Champion Trainer
Martin Pipe's Stormez.
The seven-year-old has been close to high class in steeplechasing. But he
holds an entry in the Stayers' Hurdle at the Cheltenham National Hunt
Festival and may be being prepared for that race.
Mr Cool, another Martin Pipe entrant in the Haydock race, is a contender for
the Champion Hurdle.
