A LOT has been said and written about the failing school on the Deane site and it having to be closed and restarted in collaboration with what is suggested to be a successful school in Horwich.

I note with interest in the Bolton Evening News of Thursday, January 15, regarding league tables.

(i) The Deane School appears to be only the fourth worst school in the LEA on GCSE results

(ii) The Deane School would appear to do even better if the 'value added' measure is taken into account being only fifth worst. In fact, the value added for Rivington and Blackrod is 98.6 compared to that of Deane at 98.2. There doesn't seem to be that much difference.

If the LEA has at least three schools that would seem to be allegedly failing its pupils more than The Deane School, are we to anticipate more restarts in the near future?

I am sure that, if BWFC finished 17th in the Premiership and avoided relegation as they did last year, Mr Allardyce wouldn't have been too impressed if the Board of Directors sacked him and then went into collaboration with MUFC - a highly successful team!!!

I don't think that governors, parents, pupils and the staff (non-teaching and teaching) at The Deane School are impressed with the present situation either.
