BOLTON will remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust in a memorial day tribute on Sunday.
Pupils from the borough's schools are to perform at a ceremony in front of the Mayor, Cllr Cliff Morris. Around 200 people are expected to attend.
The 50-minute ceremony will pay tribute to the millions killed by the Nazis in the second world war and those who have died during recent genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia.
A Jewish community representative from Greater Manchester will also be present.
Children from Greenfold Special School will light candles and there will be songs from St Peter's School choir. Youngsters from Smithills School will read poems throughout the ceremony. "From the Holocaust to Rwanda and Beyond" will take place in Festival Hall in Bolton Town Hall, starting at 3pm.
Canon Michael Williams said: "We want to remember all those who have died in genocides from the Holocaust to the present day. A large variety of people from different faith groups, as well as those of no faith will attend."
Councillors will give a talk about the Holocaust and memorial prayers will be led by Rabbi Joseph Lever.
Cllr Morris said: "Gathering together in this way gives us all a chance to reflect and remember all those who have suffered as a result of ethnic cleansing and other atrocities.
