A FANTASTIC game and excellent result against Villa, shame the same cannot be said for the attendance.
This is our best season for over 40 years yet thousands of season ticket holders couldn't be bothered getting a ticket for a cup semi-final against another premiership side. Over 50,000 watched us against Everton in the semi in 1977 yet on Wednesday we had less than Hull City get for 3rd (4th!) division games.
We are not going to win the league but this is our best chance of getting some silverware (and a European place). Despite it being a semi-final the club put the game in the 2nd cheapest price category but still we couldn't get a decent crowd. If you can afford to spend all night in the pub watching the game or buy a season ticket or sky you can afford a ticket for one of the most important games of the season. Its great that our league gates have improved and I can understand some fans not turning out to the earlier rounds, but with our first major (and it is one of the 3 major domestic honours) trophy since 1958 in sight we should have had a sell-out on Wednesday. When I see the crowds a lot of lower division teams get each week, I was embarrassed to so many empty seats at the Reebok. Fortunately those of us who did go created a great atmosphere and witnessed a superb game. The best way to watch a match is live at the stadium. Come on Bolton fans show true support, get yourselves to Villa Park next Tuesday and if we get through to the final lets turn Cardiff white & blue and bring the cup back to the Reebok.
