KEVIN Meagher states as a fact that three in five British jobs depend on Europe, and accuses Eurosceptics of telling half-truths, distortions and downright lies.
Unfortunately this is typical of the Pro-European lobby's approach of scaremongering and deceiving the public.
A relevant example of this happened on February 18, 2000. The BBC and Pro-European newspapers claimed the National Institute for Economic and Social Research had found that eight million jobs would be lost if Britain left the EU.
Almost immediately, the institute's director, Dr Martin Weale, disowned the campaign, calling its claims "absurd".
His institute had in fact found the opposite, that leaving the EU would have no long-term effect on employment. "It's pure Goebbels," he said, "in many years of academic research I cannot recall such a wilful distortion of facts."
Does this sound familiar, Mr Meagher? Britain does not need to be in the EU, and we should leave it to those who do.
