A THREE-year-old boy escaped unhurt with his parents after a fire broke out in his bedroom.
Fire crews were called to the end-terraced house on Ashworth Street, Elton, Bury, on Saturday at 9.40am.
The young boy woke his mum and her partner up when he became worried by the amount of smoke in his bedroom.
They all ran out of the house when the upstairs filled with smoke and alerted the fire service.
The bedroom was gutted by fire and the other upstairs rooms were smoke damaged.
The family had a smoke alarm at the top of the stairs but there was no battery inside.
Leading firefighter Carl Bostock, of Bury Fire Service, said: "If people have smoke alarms, they must ensure they have the batteries in.".
