JAY-Jay Okocha has been working with a familiar figure since he arrived in Tunisia with Nigeria's African Nations Cup squad.
Sam Allardyce has sent Wanderers' assistant physiotherapist Faz Page to shadow the Reebok skipper for at least the first week of the tournament to ensure he has the standard of medical support he is accustomed to in Bolton.
"He's a prized asset for ourselves and the Nigerian team," Page said. "The manager came up with the idea and Jay-Jay agreed it would be good for someone from our medical team to shadow him for a week to make sure everything is running smoothly.
"We didn't know what the back-up or medical team would be like but I can see they are very well equipped. I'm just basically making sure he gets his massages and takes his regular supplements.
"After training I sit down with him to see if he has any aches and strains; it's very low-key work."
Okocha captained Nigeria in their opening fixture against Morocco in Monastir on Tuesday with Page supporting him from the sidelines.
"If they went out at an early stage, it would be far better for Bolton Wanderers," he said, "but we'd like them to win the tournament."
