PLANS to put up to 40 homes on the site of a Westhoughton timber yard have been rejected by the town council.
The yard's owners, Firwood Timber, had applied to site a residential development on land on Wigan Road.
Concerns over traffic volume, as well as the need to protect the adjoining greenfields site at Bowlands Hey, saw councillors refuse the proposals.
