Eagley 2 Wyre Villa 2: EAGLEY twice came back from behind to claim a West Lancs Premier Division point on Saturday.
The Villagers -- hit by injuries and suspensions -- went behind in the first minute, but equalised on the half-hour when the Wyre defence failed to clear a right-wing cross and Mel Bentham struck a superb volley from 20 yards.
Almost immediately the home side nearly took the lead, but Ewan Purcell's header flashed just outside the upright.
But Wyre then surprised the home side again just before half-time. Eagley failed to clear after the visitors had hit the bar, and allowed them to score from the rebound.
The second period saw both sides go close several times, but with 20 minutes left, Bentham set up Purcell to score from 12 yards.
Villagers manager Peter Darby was delighted with his side's performance, and they aim to build on it this Saturday when they travel to Dalton United (2pm).
Eagley reserves, who suffered a fourth successive defeat as they lost 3-0 at Garstang, host Milnthorpe Corinthians on Saturday (2pm).
