BOLTON under-15s suffered their heaviest defeat of the season when they went down 7-1 to Stockport in their Greater Manchester Schools' County Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday.
The game was evenly balanced in the opening quarter, but Stockport broke the deadlock after 20 minutes with a fine shot from Paul Woolley.
Bolton equalised eight minutes later through Simon Walsh (Turton) but Stockport bounced back to restore their lead before the break thanks to a Steve Gibson goal.
Stockport forged further in front with a Scott Spencer goal in the 50th minute and they made it 4-1 through Danny Henry five minutes later.
Bolton's defence fell apart in the late stages of the game and Stockport added another three in the last 10 minutes with goals coming from Woolley, Henry and an opponent.
There was a defeat too for Bolton under-14s, as they lost a challenge match 3-1 at Sefton on Saturday.
Bolton opened the scoring after 10 minutes -- Adam Grundy (Turton) scoring from close range after the home keeper had failed to hold a fierce Chris McCaughtry (Mount St. Joseph's) shot.
Sefton equalised mid way through the half and they went onto dominate the game scoring another couple to give the Merseysiders a 3-1 half-time lead.
The home side continued to press forward after the break, but Bolton keeper Kieran Edwards (Deane) made a couple of fine saves.
