Manchester League: ATHERTON Town moved through to the third round of the Gilcryst Cup with a 3-1 win over Leigh Athletic.
John Hyde and Andy Morris scored to set Atherton on their way at Howe Bridge, before Gordon Walker pulled one back from the spot for Leigh.
A late goal from Phil Hornby sealed victory for the home side in a full-blooded derby.
Cup holders Prestwich Heys were knocked out of the competition by 2002 winners Stockport Georgians.
Alex Crowe gave Georgians the lead direct from a corner, but Jon Lyons equalised for Heys.
James Bowden secured a 2-1 win for Georgians with a goal 15 minutes from the end.
Heys stay two points clear at the top of the Premier Division, as second-placed Royton Town did not have a game.
Only two matches were played in the Premier, and Elton Vale took their chance to move out of the bottom two with a shock 3-1 victory at Irlam MS.
The home side had gone ahead through Steve Murray, but Vale stormed back to win with goals from Ian Hutchinson, Andy Sensale and Steve Smith.
Vale are now only three points behind Breightmet United, who were beaten 3-0 at Wythenshawe Amateurs.
Jay White scored two and Rick Tomlinson added the third to leave United looking anxiously over their shoulders.
Hindsford AFC held their nerve to beat Milton on penalties in their Murray Shield second round clash.
The match had finished 1-1 after John O'Hara had scored for Milton and Neil Critchley for the visitors, who went through 2-1 in the shoot-out.
Unsworth will have to wait for the chance to join them in the semi-finals after their home tie against Hollinwood was postponed.
