EVENTS ranging from a swimathon to a cake sale have helped pupils raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
Youngsters at Mount St Joseph Business and Enterprise College, in Farnworth, have raised a whopping £750 for the Catholic Children's Rescue through a diverse range ofvarious fundraising schemes.
Year Nine pupils at the Greenland Road school raised a large proportion of the cash by attending a swimathon. Form groups competed against each other to raise money by organising individual events like cake sales, raffles of giant boxes of chocolate and other sponsored events. And the whole school helped to raise money through non-uniform days, raffles and collections of pupils' loose change.
The Catholic Children's Rescue is a charity that is close to the pupils as they support the work of the school by providing family workers who assist some of the school's more vulnerable children by counselling and mediation.
