A WOMAN has been praised by firefighters for correctly putting out a chip pan fire.
Firefighters were called to Crescent Road, Great Lever, at 8.55pm on Wednesday after a pan of food had been left unattended and caught fire.
The 21-year-old put out the flames with a damp tea towel before leaving the house and calling the fire brigade.
A spokesman from Bolton Central Station said: "She did exactly the right thing, which prevented the fire spreading and allowed us to contain the damage to the kitchen."
