ON reading the letter written by Mr Peter Johnston (January 21), one could be forgiven for thinking the Housing Director is but a phantom or perhaps like myself a very shy person, who doesn't like their name published.
I will admit Peter is far better educated than I, perhaps Peter could explain what the fair wages resolution of 1946 was about, and just why Margaret Thatcher abolished it?
Quite a few years before I retired I was a shop steward, I would have loved to double the wage of the lads and lasses I represented, but the company we worked for could not afford it, but it seems the council tax payers of this town can.
