IT was interesting to read your reporter Robert Johnson's article, "First Bus is told to do better".
I have been complaining since 1999 about the reliability of its services, and I would like to know what GMPTE can do about it if the services don't improve?
After reading Saturday's Bolton Evening News, I went to catch the 18.40 506, which did not arrive. I phoned Moor Lane and was told staff failure was the reason. If the 18.40 doesn't run, the next bus 19.25 doesn't run because it's the same driver, then wait for the 20.25. This means that from 18.10 to 20.25 (2 hours) there is no 506 service.
What is really galling about this is that during the day on an every-10-minute service, three buses in 15 minutes is quite common, and a tandem service is normal.
With all the excessive drivers during the day, why can't they have a back-up or reserve driver available?
