RAMSBOTTOM Cricket Club have failed in their bid to sign Australian all-rounder Andrew McDonald.
The Victoria ace has told the Rams that he will not be joining them despite agreeing terms with the Lancashire League club.
It is thought the player is in negotiations with Ramsbottom's Valley rivals Haslingden who are believed to have offered him more money.
The Bentgate side expected him to put pen to paper on a deal last summer until it was found he hadn't played enough State games to qualify for a work permit.
There would be no problem for McDonald this time around as he is now a regular in the Victoria set-up.
Rams' manager Mike Everett said: "We are in negotiations with another player and something may be firmed up next week."
McDonald deal falls through
